Sunrise, AK is a small town located in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough of Alaska. With only 14 people residing there, it is one of the smallest towns in the state. It has an average population density of 3.07 people per square mile, which is significantly lower than the US population density of 93.29 people per square mile.
Although Sunrise, AK is small, it still provides plenty of local businesses and outdoor activities for its residents to enjoy year-round. Examples include The Midnight Sun Trading Company, offering everything from sweets to souvenirs; Wildman Lake Lodge providing lakeside lodging and boat rentals; and Atigun Outfitters offering guided hikes and fishing trips in Talkeetna Mountains. Other outdoor activities that can be enjoyed are snow machine trails, berry picking, beach combing, and river rafting among many others.
There are also many demographic organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for Sunrise's residents such as The Matanuska-Sustina Borough Parks & Recreation Department which hosts various events throughout the year such as local sports tournaments like basketball or softball tournaments. Overall, while Sunrise may be small, it still offers lots to do both indoors and outdoors for its residents.
