Franklin, AR is a small town with a population of 144 people as of 2020. The town is just over an hour northwest from Little Rock, and just east of Fort Smith. It has a population density of 90 people per square mile, much lower than the US population density of 93 people per square mile. Local businesses in Franklin include Franklin General Store, Hignite's Outpost & Outfitters, and Gentry's BBQ Shack which all offer excellent dining options for visitors and locals alike. For outdoor activities there is fishing at nearby Lake Wedington or Beaver Lake, golfing at Cedar Creek Golf Course or hiking at Devil’s Den State Park both close by. There are also several local organizations like Friends of UAFS-Rabbit Branch that offers educational programs to the community and the Fine Arts Center that provides music and art classes for all ages. In terms of sports events, the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith has baseball games throughout the year and an annual BBQ Cook Off held in April each year which draws plenty of crowds from surrounding cities.
