Merkel, ND is a small town located in the rural Midwest. With a population of only 9 people, it's one of the most sparsely populated areas in the United States. Despite its small size, Merkel has several local businesses including a convenience store, post office, and bank as well as various eateries and service-based stores. The town also offers several outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, hunting and hiking for year-round entertainment. Other organizations in Merkel include churches and community centers that host festivals throughout the year. Local sporting events are limited to pickup games of basketball or football at the community center but visitors are welcome to join in on the fun.
