Bentonia, Mississippi is a small town with a tight-knit community. Religious congregations play an important role in the lives of many of its residents. There are several churches in Bentonia, including Old Country Church, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, and Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Old Country Church is a non-denominational place of worship that offers weekly services and other activities for members of the community. St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi and provides traditional worship services as well as many youth programs. Lastly, Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church is a predominantly black church that has been actively serving the local population since 1923. These churches serve as a source of spiritual guidance but also foster fellowship and friendship among its members. In addition to providing the opportunity for religious growth, these churches play an integral role in uniting and strengthening the Bentonia community.
