Green Cove Springs, FL is a small city located in Clay County with a population of 7,927 people. It is the only incorporated municipality in the county and has its own unique local government. The City Council is composed of six members including a Mayor and five council members that are responsible for setting policy and managing the day-to-day operations of the city. Each council member is elected to serve two-year terms and elections take place in November of odd-numbered years. Due to their smaller size, Green Cove Springs does not have a long list of candidates running for office and many elections may be uncontested or decided by appointment from the City Council.
