Martin’s Additions is a small village within the city of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Although it is located in a larger city, Martin’s Additions has its own local government and leadership. Local politics are usually focused on issues that are specific to the community, such as maintaining parks and playgrounds, increasing public safety initiatives, and enacting zoning decisions. The village is governed by the Martin's Additions Village Council which consists of five elected officials who serve as Mayor and four council members. All offices are nonpartisan and elected for two-year terms. The Council meets monthly to discuss village business and hold open sessions for residents to participate in local government matters. In addition to the Village Council, Martin’s Additions also has a Community Association that provides additional services for residents such as hosting community events and providing civic organizations with resources.
