The politics in DeWitt, MI are vibrant and diverse. This small town of over 5,000 residents has a variety of voices represented in its local government. The town is represented in the Michigan State Senate by Judy Emmons, who was first elected to the seat in 1992. At the county level, DeWitt is part of Ingham County and its chairperson is Ruthann J. Howard. On the municipal level, DeWitt is governed by an elected mayor and city council with six members representing the various wards in the city.
