Plumsted, New Jersey is a small suburban township located in Ocean County. Although the town is largely residential, with a population of approximately 8,000 residents, it has an active local government that works to make sure the needs of its citizens are met. The governing body consists of a five-member Township Committee and a mayor who is elected at-large every four years. The committee members are also elected to serve staggered terms on a nonpartisan basis. Within the Township Committee, there are various committees providing oversight to many aspects of Plumsted life including Public Safety, Administration and Finance, Education and Parks & Recreation.
