Piedmont, Oklahoma is a small city located in Canadian County. It is largely residential and has a population of about 6,700 people. The city operates under a Mayor-Council form of government where the Mayor is elected by the citizens every four years and the City Council consists of five members who are elected to serve two-year terms. The City Council appoints the City Manager who oversees the day-to-day operations of Piedmont. All local governmental decisions are made by this governing body including budgeting for services such as public works, fire protection and police safety. With four local schools managed by Piedmont Public Schools, education plays an important role in the local politics. The community also takes part in various environmental initiatives to maintain their land’s beauty. A variety of youth programs are also available in Piedmont for children to participate in during their holidays and after school hours.
