East York, Pennsylvania is a small town located in the southeast corner of the state. Like many towns of its size, East York has a small local political scene that involves primarily mayoral and city council elections. The current mayor is Robert Smith, who was elected to his post in 2018 and is running for re-election this year. The city council consists of seven members representing various districts within the town. Recently, there have been several new candidates from both sides of the political aisle vying for their chance to serve on the council. They have different visions for how best to lead East York and maintain its small-town charm while also striving towards progress and development. Though debates between candidates are usually civil, there is still an overall sense of excitement as citizens get to decide who will best represent their interests at the municipal level.
