The town of Tega Cay, SC is a small but vibrant community located along the shores of Lake Wylie. It has a strong sense of community and is home to many families that have chosen to plant their roots there. Politically, the residents of Tega Cay are largely represented in the City Council by Mayor Robert Brown Jr., Council Members Joe Taylor and Patrice Alexander, and former Council Members Dr. Keon White and Dr. Derrick Smith. Together these elected officials are responsible for listening to their constituents’ needs and representing them at the local level through policy-making decisions that maintain fiscal responsibility while still promoting growth within the city. Residents take full advantage of their right to vote through ballot initiatives and electing their local representatives each year. Furthermore, Tega Cay engages in ongoing dialogue with its neighboring communities to further strengthen both its civic pride and quality of life for all who call it home.

Here at BestPlaces, we were looking at the voting patterns since the 2000 election and realized that we could express the results of each election as one letter. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won. The six elections (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020) would be expressed as six-letter word (R R D R R).

Then we went a little further and added the dimension of magnitude. If the difference of victory was greater than 10 percent, the letter is upper case, and lower case if the difference was less than 10 percent. This allows us to see interesting voting patterns at just a glance.
