Bennington, VT is a small town located in the southwestern region of the state. It is known for its rich history and vibrant culture. Politically, Bennington has been served by a variety of different elected officials over the years. Currently, the mayor of Bennington is Bill Thomas who was elected in 2018. The city also has a Board of Selectmen which consists of five members including chair Peter Kovacs, vice-chair Michael Keane, and members Kenneth Kaye, Richard Livingston and John Prouty. In addition to this board, there are various local committees such as the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment that help to provide input on important decisions made by the city council. There are also several state representatives who represent the area in Montpelier as well as various senators who serve on both sides of the aisle in Washington D.C. All these individuals work hard to ensure that Bennington remains a safe and prosperous place to live for all its citizens.
