Louisa County, Iowa was established in 1836 with its county seat being Wapello where there is a historic city courthouse dating back to 1880s. Louisa has a population of over 11 thousand people living across six townships, making it one of the smaller counties in terms of population density but still having plenty to offer visitors such as nature preserves with trails for hiking and biking, scenic parks for picnics or campfires as well as water activities along the Mississippi River or Muscatine Lake.
