Camden County is located on the far southwest corner of Missouri along the Lake of Ozarks near Fort Leonard Wood military base. It was established in 1841 with Macks Creek serving as its first county seat until 1929 when it moved to Camdenton where it still remains today. The population reported in 2010 was over 44 thousand people with most employed either agriculture or associated businesses or within Fort Leonard Wood with others working in local retail or seasonal resort hotels and attractions around Lake Ozark area.
