Cedar County is located in Southwest Missouri in what locals refer to as “Southwest Cedar” or “Lonesome Hollow” due to its remoteness from other counties. It was established in 1845 and has a population of around 12,240 according to the 2010 Census. Its county seat is Stockton where several large lakes are found allowing for great fishing and water sports opportunities. Agriculture has been an important part of the local economy since its earliest days but industry such as lumbering manufacturing and tourism have also helped shape Cedar Country's history today.
