Fort Mill always in my heart - 3/24/2023

I am from England and I visited Fort Mill to stay with family friends in 1981 and 1986. Although that was a long time ago I enjoyed meeting wonderful friendly people and I cherish the memories. It is absolutely beautiful and very family orientated. Thank you.

Need honest feedback about living in Fort Mill now - 1/19/2022

Hello. We're thinking of moving to Fort Mill from NJ this summer. My youngest will be a sophomore in high school so the quality of the school system is paramount, as is a low crime rate. I was sold on Fort Mill until I starting reading some of the reviews. In my research I discovered that there is a superfund site in Fort Mill, dioxin contamination stemming from the New Indy plant, PCBs and mercury in the rivers so fish are contaminated, increased drug activity and anti Semitism graffiti at the high schools. Are these issues valid? Is the media overhyping them? Please, can I get a fair review from someone who lives there now. It's already going to be difficult to uproot my daughter from her friends and high school. I would appreciate brutally honest feedback. This move is stressing me out. Thank you.

Not thrilled - 6/27/2020

I've lived here two years and don't feel the school live up to the reviews. It is very crowded here and traffic is rough. The building never stops. The mayor is a realtor so what do you expect.

3 Years and Leaving - 9/17/2019

Moved here in Spring of 2017, built a home and now plan to leave in Spring of 2020 and honestly I cannot wait to get out of here. The infrastructure in Ft Mill and Charlotte region in general just plain stinks. The commute times are unbearable most days, Fort Mill to Charlotte about 1 - 1 1/4 hr each way and Ballantyne ( 11 miles away) 45mins+Unless you live and work in Fort Mill I wouldn't move here. Everything is mediocre restaurants, shopping, and services and with the gridlock getting worse I would think twice.

Possible move to Fort Mill? - 2/27/2018

Thinking of moving to this area. Recently moved to Austin from CA and really do not like it (too congested and expensive plus people are really not as friendly as CA). I work in the financial field and thinking of living in SC but commuting to NC. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

NY resident retiring in SC - 4/21/2015

looking to move to SC to retire in the near future. Currently living in the Adirondacks where the temp was minus 15 this past winter. I am looking at Fort Mill, SC as my husband enjoys spending time on his sailboat, and can sail it on Lake Wyley which is nearby. I am interested in learning about the 4 seasons that may be experienced in that area. I am also interested in hearing from folks who moved from the cold NE to Fort Mill, SC. I hope to get a response from Elizabeth, from Rome, NY.
