Review Sumner County Gallatin Tennessee - 7/13/2021

Sumner County Gallatin Tennessee based on 10-years experience was a huge disappointment. The City of Gallatin is run by mostly family related members that are not open to new ideas and people from outside of Tennessee, a common theme found throughout the state. The Gallatin police department is notorious for misconduct over decades. The Gallatin public schools are very poor. Social life in Gallatin is generally not open to outsiders, just moving to the area and real estate prices are vastly inflated. The small city does offer convenient shopping and good family parks, but beyond that consider other options if your moving to Tennessee from out of state. I suggest not doing it and look for a state with a better educated population that's open to new ideas, people and cultures. Our family was very disappointed after 10-years with the state of Tennessee which is run by related family members, basically outdated old-school cartel like families with a rather uneducated mentality that's often down-right vicious. The first question they'll ask you is "Are you from Tennessee", if you answer "No", they put you in a separate category, and good luck trying to get a top job, build a robust career or significant business. You'll meet with resistance all the way in Tennessee, so from experience take my advice, best to put your time, money and energy elsewhere.

Nicest Place to Live in America - 8/16/2019

Don't believe me? Check Reader's Digest 2017. I have lived and been all around our great country but Gallatin has its own little quaint appeal like no where else. We are neither city nor really country just a alot southern. We have great outdoors activities, and enough shops/places to eat to keep anyone happy and fed. Check out the trails or greenway or one of the many marks. No matter what you enjoy -Great fishing, lake life, camping, hiking, shopping, mom and pop places, exploring, history, dining, brunch, and so much more Gallatin has to offer you. Like any other town people who

If you don't like it, go home - 4/15/2019

Gallatin is a great place to live.... If you want to live in the South. Unlike Murfreesboro or Nashville, Gallatin has not been over run by northerners who want to destroy the local culture. Yes, there are problems like anywhere else, but that is with any city. The majority of the population is Christian, and if you don't like the fact that Tennessee churches actually teach the Bible instead of "social justice", then leave. It never fails to amaze me how all of these Yankees move to TN, and then they want to talk about how horrible it is, blah blah blah... We never asked for you to invade us, and we sure as hell never asked for you to move here and look down your noses at us, either. If you don't like it here, go back to where you came from. I love Summer County, where the local government has kept the town from being turned into another bunch of condos for rude Yankees.

AGHHHHH - 11/8/2018

I moved here with my infant son seven years ago and I hate myself for it. I'm pretty sure his childhood is ruined and it's all my fault. The air pollution makes it so we barely step outside anymore. The "nice neighborhoods" are nothing more than trashy ghettos. Shady people are everywhere and it is definitely NOT a place to raise a child.

Gallatin - 5/6/2015

The town and county are slow to change. It's likely the long time established families here like it that way. There is truly a failure to progress even when opportunity comes knocking. All the folks who come from elsewhere, especially out of State, are not truly welcome. We find friendship mainly with others who have migrated here from "outside". After buying a house here, my home was broken into and robbed. The police/ detectives were very responsive and professionally friendly. I find they try to keep the crime here low key. Like its no big deal. An officer who came to the house in follow up actually made a sarcastic remark, "so you just moved here a few months ago; well, welcome to Gallatin." They did catch the two men, basically poor white trash, and prosecuted them. Well, it's a year later, I have a security system now, because I have to. And a gun, because I have to. Today my cat came home and wasn't acting right. We found he's been shot. Nice. I hail from southwestern PA and northern WV, where people are genuine, and friendly, and good neighbors for the most part. I've lived several places in TN. This town and county is a culture shock. Just be prepared for it if you come here.

Gallatin is a horribe place to live - 4/29/2015

First, do not believe anyone who tells you Gallatin is a suburb. It isn't. I've lived in multiple suburbs of large cities and Gallatin is a small country city. Nothing north of Nashville is really nice but you could stretch and call Hendersonville a suburb. It ends there. Do not move to Gallatin expecting good restaurants or even good service or food at the chains. They can't even manage to execute fast food. The police force is focused on revenue while crime, especially property crime, is prevalent. They focus on patrolling the main highway through town along with some major streets. If you want your neighborhood patrolled, you have to pay them for driving through periodically. The amount of rudeness I've experienced here has largely come from this being a backwards, country area. Even Hendersonville is very different and it is only a few minutes away. Gallatin does have a few nice neighborhoods near Hendersonville. The school which is fed from these neighborhoods is probably okay. The Gallatin public schools though I couldn't imagine being good based on everything else we have experienced here. A lot of poverty and uneducated or undereducated are here. If you want country and are used to the small town that comes with it - the people, the lack of options, the police, property crime etc then Gallatin may be okay for you. Gallatin also has a huge elderly population. If you over social security age, Gallatin may also be a place for you. Do not move here from any city, suburb or nice small city or town. Just don't do it to yourself. Stop at Hendersonville if you have to live on the north side. I believe it would be worth the commute to find a Nashville neighborhood or one of the southern suburbs which are true suburbs. Gallatin should never make a best places list. It is insane to even consider.

Gallatin,TN - 4/21/2012

Qallatin is a quiet place but in many ways is like a timewarp going back to the 40's when it comes to schools and business issues. It is a horrible place to raise kids if you plan on them having a higher education or anything other than being a farmer. This is also a place where if your not a member of a family that has lived here for generations you will soon know your an outsider in all categories. I have lived here for 2 extremely long yrs coming from Ashville, NC and Melbourne, FL and this by far is the worst place I've ever lived in regard to family or business.

Worst Place to move people in tn hate outsiders - 4/7/2012

I moved to the outskirts of Gallatin farmers and people in Tennessee hate outsiders never met so many poeple who were nice to you in front of you but were liers thiefs and hypercrits. They all beleive going to a church makes you a good person but they hesitate to look at how they act. They do not like to talk about anything realistic they brush everthing under the carpet and if you want to be in the BIBLE BELT that is the place to be. Gallatin Police will arrest you even if you are AN UPSTANDING CITIZEN THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO GET THIER TICKETS. mostly money income of course . They are the rudest most hard core police department not well trained and belligerent and have the best and most expensive police cars there are not too many jobs available so they have an over abundance of police officers and sheriffs for revenue . School system poor compared to the rest of the states . Loaded with paranormal due to the civil war. Ten years behind the times, nothing to see except a bunch of bars downtown . People from Tennessee do not like anything out of their comfort Zone if you like good restaurants there are none. I thought I had moved to the hell hole of calcutta when I got here . Gallatin leaves a lot to be desired unless you are in their buddy system. If you are intelligent like good conversation do not like to watch everything you say, do not like to be on your tippy toes all the time do not mind SLOWWWWWWWWW and do not care to make friends or have good schools , do not mind having all your things stolen, GETTING TICKETS AND KEEPING YOUR MOUTH SHUT OR TALKING BELOW YOURSELF you will love TN. The only thing nice here is the land. Please you will be totally unhappy do yourself a favor CONSIDER SOMEWHERE ELSE HOW IT LOOKS ON THE OUTSIDE IS not how it isl .

A great small town near Nashville, Tennessee Low cost of living and housing. No state income tax. Large lake for recreation.

Gallatin, Tennessee - 12/17/2009

Good things about: close to Nashville, pretty scenery if you look past the trailers and litter. Worst things: fairly red-neck, total lack of concern for zoning issues, few sidewalks.

Seeing the growth of Gallatin - 10/10/2009

I moved from the west coast in 2001. I seen a lot of building here, not only housing, but also commercial. In the west I lived near big cities (San Francisco) and I really didn't like living that close to them. I prefer the small city like Gallatin. I hope it doesn't grow too much though.

Growing - 3/8/2008

In the last 5 years, the size of Gallatin has multiplied greatly. What was once a small town miles from Nashville is now a suburb, connected by a 4 lane highway. There has been a huge boom in the building of retail stores and housing developments.
