Santa Clara CA is a wonderful place. - 9/20/2021

Santa Clara, CA and the city government are great. The city has been for the most part very good to me. I grew up in Santa Clara and now that I have been away for two years I truly miss it. To really appreciate Santa Clara one must learn about its rich history which goes back hundreds of years before Europeans arrived. The Spanish influence by way of The El Camino Real Missions, and the Roman Catholic Church helped to define its inherent hometown old California culture while being of city of modern innovations. Yes, there are so called high rise building going in most on the west side of fwy 101. In reality these buildings are 4-5 stories and aesthetically speaking very attractive. Thus providing a refreshing improvement to the decaying 60 to 100 year old retail and commercial buildings. Culturally speaking, S.C. is very diverse.

A fair and balanced review of Santa Clara - 9/3/2017

I have lived in Santa Clara California most of my life so I consider myself to be an expert. The climate is wonderful. The price of housing is way above the national average. The inventory of housing is very low and does not meet the demand. There are plenty of hospitals and Urgent Care facilities. Public schools are not the worst but they are not the best either. The city government seems to be bent on high-rise development near or close to old residential areas. The traffic is horrendous and just getting out to nature is a big hassle. San Jose International Airport is nearby so noise is a problem. I personally do not like Santa Clara but I'm stuck until I find a better place to live that is more affordable and less congested.

Best of Santa Clara - 5/11/2015

Good Central Park and activities; City-owned power company provides lower cost power; home to many high-tech companies; city is pro-development.

Santa Clara's Rivermark area - 1/29/2015

Love living here. Everything is close. The school is fabulous .... I volunteer there and appreciate the other parents who are also involved. We are what keeps the school a "community" school. The ties between Don Callejon School and the businesses located in Rivermark is fabulous.

The Real Silicon Valley - 9/29/2008

This is the city of innovation and doing things right. When people talk of Silicon Valley, this is where they are talking about. Much of what makes the city work so well for business and home life is a City that truly cares about what it does and how it does it. City leaders are at the top of the list when it comes to being prepared and knowing what is important in a high tech area that must be aware of its place in the ring of fire. The cost of living is a bit steep, and that would be the only thing I'd say would be a negative on the list of things to say about Santa Clara. In every other respect it has everything going for it.

What are you use to? - 6/28/2007

I moved to Silicon Valley (from Alabama) in September 2005 and I have been here almost 2 years now. My opinion of Santa Clara, and this area in general, is very mixed. All of my family and friends are back in AL, meaning I am here all on my own. The 2 MAIN things that take getting use to here is the cost of housing and the people. I am sure many are familiar with the cost of living here and many assume that what you make at your job evens it out in a way. Well, that may be true for people who are just starting their careers out of college, but thats not talked about. It is EXTREMELY common for people to change jobs every year or two in order for a wage increase. It is much more rare to meet people in a company who has been there for over 6-7 years. Where I am from in AL many people are in there jobs for 20-30 years. Commenting on the people of Silicon Valley... Its not that people are rude here, but unlike in the deep South, people in the Silicon Valley dont just talk to a stranger for no reason. They dont say hello to you when they see you coming ang going to work and they rarely help a woman who obviously needs help with her groceries. Many of the men rely on AAA rather than bother to get their hands dirty and change a flat tire. Where I am from in AL we associate AAA with AARP, something the elderly need.

very good city - 6/10/2007

Santa Clara is in CA and known as Bay Area. Very good city and it has lot of good places to see for tourists. It has good center for the IT companies, lot of job for IT engineers, lot of public transportation is available, so no problem if you don’t drive or don’t want to drive. People enjoy all four seasons summer winter spring and fall. You can see the season change on the trees and flowers. Very good community for all nations being an Indian I never miss my country. Every one can found lot of fiends and support form community; no one can feel alone “if the person has positive attitude in the life”. This city has lot of good things I may not be able to writ every thing beside this all plus points, city is little bit expansive so, take it like this every good thing has it’s own price.

overpriced - 1/15/2007

You just do not get much for your money in California. we like the school and the area @ RIVERMARK ,the new community we moved into, but we cannot afford the townhomes here that start at 700,000. we pay a fortune to rent.we will probably move to a more affordable state next year. I have been teaching in California for 5 years and the price of things is just not worth it anymore.I loved California at first, but have come tired of everything being overpriced and overcrowded. We will come back to visit San Francisco and the surrounding areas.

Speaks for itself - 6/29/2006

This is one of the best climates around, in my opinion. The temperatures are moderate year-round. There is a brief winter rainy season and then it is sunny and mid 70s the rest of the year.

Silicon Valley - 6/5/2006

The entire area is way too expensive. We can barely afford our two-bedroom condo and my husband is a Ph.D. engineer. The weather is great but forget about affordable housing around here. If you can afford it, it is an excellent place to live. Everything is so close and you are in the heart of where things happen.

Cost of living in Santa Clara - 4/21/2006

Cost of living is high, but the price is worth it. Great City government, good utility rates and located in the south bay of San Francisco Bay Area...right in the heart of Silicon valley.

I love this city but the cost of housing and the traffic are making it increasingly less desirable.
