Nice, new, good scenery, shopping and restaurants - 5/20/2016

I'm impressed by Silverdale industry. So many businesses! You can find just about anything you need in only a 2 mile radius. It's impressive that they fit so well and you have many options. It's basically a beautiful town, very green and just a few minutes away is good hiking through small mountains, dog parks as well. I would say ideal for raising a family, however housing is VERY expensive (1 bedroom apt your looking at 7-800). I would say that is the most prominent of the few downsides Silverdale offers. Small town feel, city level accommodations. Weather is notoriously gloomy, grey, and light rain is the expected daily weather here. However, the last few summers have been nearly perfect, not unbearably hot or humid. Cool events in the small town, 'whaling Days' is festival locals put on celebrating the areas fishing history, like a small fair with a variety of cool foods from all over, including fireworks. 'Blackberry Festival' in nearby Bremerton. Mall, restaurants, hiking and dog parks a plenty. Disc golf, boating, mountain bike trails as well. Overall very clean, newer buildings and public areas are clean and nice. Low crime.

box store community with a good YMCA in the greyzo - 1/12/2012

Lots of box stores, no real character or culture, rains a lot, skies are usually grey like the rest of the Puget Sound. Does have a good YMCA.

Friendliness and Diversity - 7/26/2011

Last fall my husband and I visited the state of Washington to check out ideas for retirement locations...we fell in love with both Silverdale and Whidby Island. We stopped at night in Silverdale just to take a rest and walk around. We happened to stop at one of the malls...went in and found two things very important to both of us...friendliness and ethnic diversity. We were so impressed that even though we had to leave the next day we drove back up the following morning to see the town during daylight hours...we were not disappointed by either the scenery or the people we met. I hope we will be able to afford retirement there when the time comes.

Ideal - 12/15/2007

I love it here. I am from the Central Valley in California (Manteca) and lived in the Napa/Santa Rosa area for some years as well as Alaska. This is the place of all the places I love. I love the mountains and green. Trees. The weather could have snow that stayed a little longer and some warmer weather in the summer, but I have never felt so comfy and save as living here. Come visit.
