Fairfield County provides it's residence the best of two worlds. Access to New York City and life in a beautiful suburban or small city setting such as Stamford, CT. Excellent transportation, health care, recreation and cultural experiences abound. Strong economic base due to proximity to NYC and CT financial services industry. Easy access to the beauty and recreational diversity that New England provides. Downside is the high cost of housing and taxes, however, significantly higher average incomes help offset higher cost of living.
