Buffalo was okay in 2016. Since then, crime is up, there are more methadone clinics than pediatricians, and so many of the small businesses that made this place charming have since closed down or changed hands. The cost of living has shot through the roof since the pandemic. People are very proud to be from here and the city calls itself "the city of good neighbors". Unfortunately, this moniker speaks more to the attitudes Buffalonians have about themselves; they're largely two-faced narcissists. Of course, that's not everyone, but this is what has become of the community at large. Buffalo has a classic "my city is the best because I've never left it" attitude, while ignoring the ever-increasing problems that are making this statement less and less true every year. The upside is that there are plenty of jobs and lots of nerdy stuff for historians and architects. It's also nowhere near as snowy as they say.
