Review of Tucson, Arizona

Tucson is a great place to live
Star Rating - 4/8/2010
I've lived in Tucson for over 25 years now and "yes", I will admit that the Summers here can be overwhelmingly HOT, but all in all, it's a great place to live.

Tucson has a very laid back, casual atmosphere both in personal and business life. You can do almost anything, including go to the office, in your shorts and flip flops. You can tell when people are visiting for business by their out of place sport coats and ties.

The people in Tucson are very friendly. The town has quite a diverse population with a lot of retirement communities, a large college crowd, a multitude of entrepreneurial businesses and large, multi-national corporations scattered about along with a nice size arts community.

The desert is amazingly beautiful...not the tan and brown tones that many think of. The wildflowers in spring cover the ground and there isn't anything more beautiful than the desert after a gentle rain. The mountain views from all areas of the city are incredible, especially when the mountains turn bright orange and taint the clouds a beautiful pink at sunset. The sunrises are just as amazing if you are an early bird.

We've found the schools that our children have attended to be equivalent to private schools with a highly educated and dedicated staff of both teachers and parent volunteers. We could not be more pleased with the public school system offered in Tucson.

There are a lot of great things to do with families and visitors here as well. The Desert Museum is ever changing and always fascinating. Mt. Lemmon is just a short drive and avails you of pine trees and even snow. Old Tucson is tried and true. Downtown Tucson is a great place for people watching and exotic foods and trendy shops and restaurants. Sabino Canyon is a great place to watch wildlife or take a hike to Seven Falls. Saguaro National Monument East and West are nothing less than beautiful. Driving over Gates Pass still takes my breath away after 25 years. The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show each year is the ultimate adventure in shopping and treasure hunting. The Tucson Rodeo is a Tucson tradition.

If you're looking for a nice place to live, raise a family, enjoy natural beauty in a casual environment and forge true friendships with down-to-earth people I would highly recommend it! If you're looking for a metropolitan lifestyle with a multitude of art museums, martini bars, overpriced malls and "culture", try someplace else.
