If you have to live in NYC then do so in staten island. It has the best of suburban living and culture ( great for colonial history buffs) as is all of NYC its expensive, taxes are high and the middle class is being priced out. Schools in S.I are good in the tottenville area but not so in the borough of brooklyn. There are five boroughs in NYC adn S.I is the best of them. Again however the cost of everything is prohibitive is you watch your P's and Q's are on a budget or can't afford high property taxes or a house higher then 250,000.00 ( you'll find none , maybe condos) Its nice but costly.
