GOOD! Keep Crime OUT! - 8/12/2012

Thanks for sharing fun facts about Vero Beach but more over: Let it be boring....no fun...no bars... After all...where ever the so called "fun" is... rest assure...the dreggs are too. Atlantic City...Chicago...las vegas...and the rest... Keep the change... Hope VB holds strongly to keeping the slime out..

I love Florida! - 2/18/2010

I moved to Florida 5 years ago after living in Michigan for 38 years. It is heaven I love the summers and the winters. The air in Vero Beach is clean and you can go outside and enjoy. Even in the summers the morning and evening are so beautiful the skies will take your breath away. I am from the north but my heart is here I LOVE FLORIDA and I am very lucky to live here.

Relaxation and the laid back life - 12/10/2008

I visited my friends in Vero Beach, stayed at South Beach Place on Ocean Drive for over a week and I love the quality of life since everyone is more or less laid back. The pace is comforting. The beaches, the library is beautiful although the computers are very high in demand, the Publix foodstores are wonderful with fine foods,Starbucks coffee shops, restaurants such as Mulligans and Ocean Grill at Sexton Plaza are not to be missed, same for Felix's Cuban Restaurant and Georgio's pizza on 17th St. I could go on and on.... There are plenty of places to walk your dog, people are very nice and friendly. I'm moving down here and I'm 56 years of age and need peace and tranquility with my hearing ear mini-dachshund.

Young People Have Tought Time - 4/15/2008

Vero is a lovely town, nice weather 6 months out of the year-Summer is brutal, hot/humid and does not break until November. Beautiful beaches and very clean water. Having lived in Sarasota, FL on the Gulf of Mexico, Ponte Vedra in North Florida and raised in Santa Barbara, CA, the beaches in Vero are the best. Problem is, that's it. The cultural life is geared completely to the senior citizens and there is a shortage of things to do after 8:00 at night for any age. There is a serious lack of jobs for college grads and the town wants it that way. Very business un-friendly and the town father's discourage growth of any sort. Big divide between haves/have nots and growing, noticable "attitude" thrown off by both sides. Vero thinks it can live forever on retiree money but that's doubtful given the high number of homes for sale and the overall disgust with the property tax situation on the beachside. Dog friendly beaches are a plus as is the ease of getting around town.

I like it quiet here! - 7/7/2007

I moved here one year ago and my husband and I picked Vero for a reason. We do not do the "night life" thing and we really like the beach. We are 15 minutes from the beach, 1 1/2 hours from Disney and great shopping in our back yard. For me, just leave the night life and the crime in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando or Jacksonville. I just pray Vero stays the way it is.

Great Time to Buy - Housing Inventory is temporari - 4/13/2007

Great place to live. Indian River County is located on the central east coast of Florida. Gorgeous weather. Small City community with lots of amenities, shopping, nice restaurants and everything you need including beautiful uncrowded beaches, great fishing and boating in the Indian River Lagoon which is one of the most diverse estuaries in the country. Go to http://realtytimes.com/c/KenBradley for details.

Beautiful but little diversity. - 7/26/2006

Vero Beach is a beauty...the beaches, the indian river, the tropical foliage and a climate that is delightful. Summers here are my favorite time. The tourists are gone and the beaches are empty...I mean empty! Although during the winter you can walk your dog on the beach often without encountering anyone. My big complaint....it is very vanilla with little to do.

Numerous Churches and Banks - 6/22/2006

Having moved here from Vermont, where most towns have two churches and two, or three Banks, here there are so many of each . . . it feels like every forth corner has one!

Housing cost sky high - 5/21/2006

Area real estate has skyrocketed leaving those with lower income out of the home buying market. Tight job market for the 'working' man.

Great place for families and retirees - 5/15/2006

I am from Vero Beach and lived there until I went to college. Vero is not for young, active singles. It's clean, safe, community oreiented, and it great for a family or older individuals. The real estate is truly expensive. There is no club scene, no educational scene that i can remember (they have off-campus locations for a community college), and no large events. There is decent shopping and it is centrally located to bigger cities. Except for an occassional hurricane, you can't beat the weather. And the beach is no further that 15minutes away. I wouldnt mind retiring there.

Home of the newly wed and the nearly dead... - 5/15/2006

I am from Vero Beach and lived there until I went to college. If you have a family, are looking to retire, or just want a gorgeous home by the beach, Vero is the place for you. It is safe, clean, quiet, and centrally located to many bigger cities. You can't beat the weather (besides an occassional hurricane). There is no club scene, everything closes early, not a lot of events...its just not a place for single young people looking for a good time. However, there is immense opportunity for growth and business. the other commentor was right though, most people who live there want it to stay small and quiet. The real estate is truly expensive. Its a beautiful, safe, clean, community-oriented city. Not great for twenty-ish, thirty-ish singles.

Perfect for 'the newly wed or the nearly dead' - 5/15/2006

I am from Vero Beach and lived there until I went to college. (I am shocked they actually have Vero Beach and Vero Beach South as if there is a distinction). If you have a family, are looking to retire, or just want a gorgeous home by the beach, Vero is the place for you. It is safe, clean, quiet, and centrally located to many big cities. You can't beat the weather (besides an occassional hurricane). However, there is immense opportunity for growth and business. the other commentor was right though, most people who live there want it to stay small and quiet. It's like a secret. The real estate is truly expensive. Its a beautiful, safe, clean, community-oriented city. Not great for twenty-ish, thirty-ish singles.

Vero Beach vs. Las Vegas - 4/24/2006

I left Vero Beach, a.k.a., "Zero Beach" 9 months past. All of the posted comments are true in large part both pro and con. I actually moved to Henderson outside of Vagas. After 8 years of the peace found in Vero, Vegas is a shooting gallery. It is the most violent area I have every lived in. From flaming fatal car crashes on a multiple daily basis to an incredible amount of down and dirty crime by the minute, it brings new meaning to the phrase "wild West". Most of the above does not make national news, but 1 1/2 hours of daily evening news will give new insight to the uneducated. I tell all visiting friends- "Do not go to the Strip". You are placing yourself in harm's way to do so. Anne will fondly remember Zero Beach should she move to the "Valley". The home builders can't sell refrigerators, washers, or dryers as part of the new home package, because they are stolen as fast are they get installed. Plus the big surprise- there is not much to do, unless you consider giving your money to a casino entertaining. The best place place to go in Laas Vegas is the Nevada State Historical Museum. I was busier in Vero, but then as an artist I am able to entertain myself.
