2013 Palm Coast Review - Don't Be Fooled

For anybody considering moving to Florida in general, I would highly recommend you do your due-diligence. I used to come here (Jacksonville) on business quite often, thinking, wow, Florida would be a nice place to live someday. Boy was I wrong. The Job Market here in Florida is pretty much non-existent, and it is apparant the crime is rapid (depending on where you are at), of course as we all know crime is everywhere but not as previlant as what it appears here in Florida. Don't believe me?? Turn on and watch the local evening news and that is 95% of what the news casts are about, very disappointing at best. Now back to Palm Coast.....The entry into Palm Coast is very attractive with beautiful landscaped areas. Don't be fooled. When you enter any neighborhoods, you will notice a few houses that are very nicely landscaped and the rest of the neighborhood looks very low-end. It is apparant you have those who take pride in the homes and residential areas and those who don't. There a no street lights and no sidewalks to speak of. Kids literally have to walk in the streets on their way home from school. That in itself is not a good thing. Now driving is a whole different story. Not sure where the folks get their drivers licenses'from, but dont' expect anybody to use a Turn Signal, they pretty much are non-existant, and speed-limits, it is puzzling to me why they even put speed limit signs up, it is very apparant that nobody follow's them (try driving down Belle Terra) and you'll see what I mean. Tail-gating is a whole different story - (Enough said there) - Back to the neighborhoods in Palm Coast or should I say the "hoods". It is apparant that some folks take pride in their residences while others do not. Some homes I've seen in the neighborhoods in Palm Coast are simply "breath-taking". To those people who take care of their homes (Thank You)! I guess it is hard to comprehend how an area can have 3-5 nice looking homes and the rest of the residential area looks low-end. I would attribute this to a lack of an HOA or deed restricted home owners association. I know they can be a !@#$#@ but to the latter, they do keep the neighborhoods looking at least somewhat presentable. I mean who wants to live next to somebody who doesn't cut their lawn, parks their vehicles in the front yard, leaves the trash cans out in front of their house....tires lined up on the side of the house, house in desparate need of painting, just a total disregard in the pride an appearance of their home and neighborhood?? Very very dissappointing in-deed! I've never seen an area (and I mean all areas ((some better than others, mind you)) that looks this bad. Also, if I wanted to live in the Upper East Coast I would have moved there. They should rename Palm Coast to coincide with the majority of it's residents (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania) etc... and the North East Attitude and Driving that goes along with that. It is sad the "Southern Flavor" is gone from this town, it does have it's positive points, but their are more negative point's I'm afraid than positive ones. We are so very disappointed with the whole Florida move. In hind-site, I wish this had never happened. This Southern Person is heading for nicer pastures -
