Horrible Place to Live!
Star Rating - 10/22/2011
Anyone who would actually CHOOSE to live in Yuma, Arizona if they had another choice is a FREAKIN MORON! I knew I didn't want to move to this hell hole but I had to as it was the only place my husband was offered a job. We had previously been in Phoenix, AZ metro area. This place makes that place look like HEAVEN. Yuma is dirty, a bunch of uneducated people living here, restaurants are dirty, the mall is gross and has lazy workers in it and the stores like JC Penny are much smaller and much less inventory than any other mall I have been and I've lived many places, HORRIBLE public school system, and I could go on and on. This is a nightmare I feel like I am living in a bad Twilight Zone episode. I will pray every night to get the hell out of this place. Like someone else posted on another site I came across she said that this place is like living in Satan's Asshole and I totally agree. It is soooo freakin hot and way too sunny. I would not recommend anyone moving here if there is any possible way you don't have to. It SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with the assessment above that it is a hole, probably because I spent most of my life on the east coast, where I could shop at organic groceries, had a huge variety of malls and stores, educated people, good quality schools, and recreational options that don't involve riding around the desert in a golf cart drinking beer. I'm not planning to stay here. The only way I survived so far is that San Diego is 2 hours, 40 minutes from here and I go there on weekends. This is definitely the worst place I've lived. I don't even like jogging here because many parts of the town give off a creepy vibe to me and are really run down. As a younger person, I am not interested in living here for the long term.

You are not alone! I moved here because my husband accepted a job here. Ugh, can't stand the heat, boring place to live with nothing except snowbirds who shouldn't be driving and clog up the streets. They forget where their gas pedal is located. In one week, my car and my husband's car were both hit while parked. One of the snowbirds took off, but a witness called the police and reported her. She had no clue she hit the car. She shouldn't have been driving. If you're not into spending your time eating sand at the dunes playing cowboy on you big boy gas guzzling toys, you a out of luck with anything to do. Old has been entertainers come to the casinos, or country bumpkins who you have never heard of, perform. Although it was a shock that Lewis Black was here last year, with all the right winger red necks who live here. Houses are small, overpriced and butt ugly. If you can afford a 300G mortgage you'll find a 1500 sq. foot home with no landscaping except dirt. Bad water and backwards City Council members. High electric rates with APS. This is a fast food magnet. The people in the foothils applaud when a new fast food joint opens and it winds up on the front page of the local yokel newspaper...poor selection of quality restaurants too. Can't wait to get outta here!
