You are right Barbara, it has changed. I stayed in NM when I came in 72 because it was a welcome change from NYC. But over the years thanks to crooked politicians and out of state developers it has become a pit. We are always in the top 5 for crime, #1 for child illness, #49 per capita income (and now they want to make it "right to work"), and in the bottom ten always for education.50% of New Mexicans are some kind of government assistance. Forbes magazine said NM was in a death spiral and they were right. I can only hope I can get out before it goes down like the Titanic. The only people who like it here are natives that don't know any better and retirees on government pensions. They do wonderful. If you need to make a living, you're not going to make one here.
