Review of Lincoln Califor, Iowa

very nice community
Star Rating - 1/12/2014
This is a little ranch and farm town just to the north east of Sacramento that several years ago found itself growing like a weed. The downtown area is like many small Midwestern towns, family owned stores and businesses in buildings of all manner and make. Some built long ago, some just growing a little long of tooth and some brand new. The neighborhoods range from older, low to middle income communities, to country club gated communities where you can find very expensive high income neighborhoods. Unusual for any community located close to the State Capital which is the head of the liberal snake, it is quite conservative politically and the residents tend to keep to their own business, yet are very friendly. The weather is almost perfect, with hot days, cool nights and little humidity in the summer and very moderate winter weather. Shopping of every need within 10 miles, adequate traffic management, great grocery options, with both local and national chains, a super hospital system, Sutter Medical, both in and around the community. Recreation is as good as it gets, both outdoor and culturally. The mountains are a hour away, the beach two hours, Napa Valley 1:15, SF two hours, Reno 1:30, local wineries abound, pick your own fruit quickly available, international airport 40 min, the delta ecosystem an hour, many large reservoirs and rivers for boating, fishing and water sports within an hour, a super rifle and pistol range almost within the city limits, a world class shotgun range 4 miles, hunting all around, a casino just outside of town, and many other amenities. The only thing missing is quality restaurant choice. There are only a couple of reasonably upscale dining establishments close by, and even the food choices in Sacramento are OK at best. That said SF is only two hours and Napa Valley even closer. There are two Del Webb retirement communities in the area, one in Lincoln and the other close by in Roseville. These are both 55 plus communities, with golf courses and all the amenities one would expect in a retirement community. Having lived all over the state as an adult, for the past 50 years, first in the SoCal area and until five years ago in the Bay Area I can give Lincoln very high marks as a good place to raise a family and even better as a retirement destination. I have no idea what the person from CT was talking about when he/she dissed Lincoln, but that person needs to stay a while longer, for you could not give me the entire state of CT in trade.
