Cost of living and traffic in Orange County Ca - 6/7/2015
I have lived in Orange County and Los Angeles County for over 20 years. The cost of living has prompted 3 friends to move to the Central Valley, Oregon and Washington state. Even though I live in a nice mobile home community half of my incomes goes toward space rent. However, the biggest draw back for me is the traffic! It is always rush hour even on the weekends. Even if I drive into LA at a slower traffic time, it takes me hours to get back home. It seems there are more cars every day on the freeways. Because our weather is being manipulated via high flying aircraft spewing God knows what,
We have less sunny days than before.

Two income priority. - 4/21/2009
In Brea, and nearly all of Orange County- let alone Southern California, the expectations are that every family has two incomes or one six figure income. The amount that is needed to own a home and live in some comfort is more than the average single income can provide. The problem, is the sacrifice a family must make to have someone stay home is Read More

Nice - 2/11/2008
Brea's a nice, safe, clean surburban town with good schools and a cute downtown area. It's conveniently located between L.A. and Orange Counties. Lots to do within driving distance. Like most other places in southern CA, it is way overpriced. One downfall I aven't been able to get past about southern CA is that people aren't very welcoming, and it's hard to establish meaningful relationships. Everyone's in their own bubble Read More

Good Orange County City - 8/29/2006
Pros:
Functional and pedestrian-friendly downtown. There's always some festival or other going on. Lots of restaurants and shopping, as well as jobs (though this being SoCal, you'll likely work many miles away). By Orange County standards, it's about average in housing prices and rents.
Cons:
By national standards house prices and rents are absolutely ridiculous. If you don't already own a home in SoCal, don't even bother coming here. As for Brea itself, the city seems to treat it's police force as a revenue stream; you will be cited for something while living here. It's a resident's rite of Read More
