What BestPlaces Users Say about Pasadena

Pasadena, California is a vibrant city nestled in the San Gabriel Valley, known for its beautiful historic architecture, cultural diversity, and thriving arts and culinary scene. With a population of over 140,000, it offers a mix of urban and suburban living and is home to the prestigious California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and the annual Rose Parade. Here are some user reviews from BestPlaces.net about living in Pasadena.

1. "I have lived in Pasadena for over 10 years and I absolutely love it! The city has a great sense of community and there is always something to do. The weather is amazing, with mild winters and warm summers, making it perfect for outdoor activities. Plus, the food scene here is incredible, with a diverse range of cuisines to choose from. Overall, I highly recommend living in Pasadena." - Sarah M.

2. "Pasadena is a beautiful and safe city, with well-maintained streets and parks. The schools here are top-notch and there are plenty of job opportunities, especially in the tech industry. The only downside is the high cost of living, but it's worth it for the quality of life you get here." - John P.

3. "I moved to Pasadena a few years ago and I have never looked back. There's always something happening, whether it's a street festival, concert, or art exhibit. And with easy access to public transportation, I can easily explore other parts of the city and beyond. The only downside is the traffic, but that's to be expected in a city like this." - Jennifer L.

4. "I've lived in Pasadena my whole life and I have to say, it's a great place to call home. The city has a rich history and it's reflected in the beautiful architecture and landmarks. However, over the years, it has become more crowded and expensive, making it difficult for some to afford to live here. But if you can make it work, Pasadena is definitely worth it." - Mark R.

The weather in Pasadena, CA is rather pleasant. It does not get cold here, it used to be around the first two weeks of December it could go down to 32-28 F, only a few nights. Christmas day is around 80 F. I find spring mornings colder than any other time of year. As for rain, it is usually in February, 11-14 inches if we are lucky. That is usually the max for all year. Summer does not start here till the end of July and gets hotter with every month after till around Thanksgiving. August,September, October usually in high 90's but can easily go to 104, 106 for a couple of days at a time. Most of the year there is a bright white haze that I can not stand, many people get headaches from it, myself included. Night temps are between 55-65 F.Really nothing Read More

Weather in Pasadena, CA - 2/14/2013
I have lived in Pasadena for over 40 years and it has been a pleasure in terms of year round good weather. We have occasional Santa Ana winds that have caused some damage but still very satisfied with the weather conditions. After looking at other places to move to, we can find no other place with the good weather we have enjoyed here. So we will miss it, but not the California Read More

Pasadena - like a little slice of the mid-west, wi - 11/22/2009
We moved this past summer to Pasadena from the mid-west, and we could not be happier. Actually, we probably will be happier in January and February, when we are not shoveling snow! Pasadena is a GREAT place to live. We walk to almost everything, including our jobs, restaurants, the library, groceries, and any kind of entertainment you could want. The only down side we have found is the schools. They are so bad that most people are forced to put their kids in private schools, which we did. The good news is that there are so many wonderful private schools near by to choose from. Yes, it is more expensive to live here, but we consider it a "weather tax", and it is worth every penny. Though it is a big city, Pasadena has the quaint feel of the mid west, with lots of trees, and very friendly people. We love it Read More

Not just for little old ladies.......??? - 8/11/2009
Everyone has heard of this quint expression of Little Old Lady from Pasadena...which
is not entirely untrue since there are many retired people living here. I remembered
seeing older people everywhere I went in the 1970s when I lived there as a teenager.
An old couple lived next door to us whom we called "Grandpa" who drove a 1950s car.
Today there maybe more younger people due to the renewal of the OLD PASADENA section
where sidewalk cafes and famous chains like HOOTERS open shops. Homes also reminded
one of the age of the city with its many 1920 style homes. The City Hall area with its famous historic library also give a feeling of a highly cultured historic city.
Many famous tourist must-sees are also located in or near Pasadena, including the Huntington Library with its many species of living plants and flowers. Of course, every New Year, we have the ROSE PARADE with the Princess elected from local school
beauty pageant.
