What BestPlaces Users Say about San Clemente

San Clemente is a coastal city located in southern California. It boasts a mild climate, picturesque beaches, and a laid-back lifestyle. In recent years, it has become a popular destination for tourists and a desirable place to live. However, as with any city, there are pros and cons to living in San Clemente. To gain a better understanding of what it's like to live in this particular place, I reviewed numerous user comments on BestPlaces.net. Many individuals shared their personal experiences and perspectives, providing valuable insights on the city's livability.

According to user "Sarah G.," San Clemente offers a welcoming and inclusive community, saying, "I love living in San Clemente because there is a strong sense of community and a diverse population. Everyone is accepting and friendly." Additionally, "David L." praises the city's natural beauty and outdoor activities, stating, "The beaches, hiking trails, and golf courses make San Clemente an amazing place to live for anyone who loves the outdoors." These comments highlight the positive aspects of living in San Clemente, such as its community spirit and access to outdoor recreational activities.

However, not all user reviews are glowing. "Jennifer M." expresses frustration with the high cost of living, saying, "Housing prices are outrageous, and everything is expensive in this area." Similarly, "John B." shares concerns about the city's traffic and overcrowding, stating, "It's becoming too crowded, and traffic is a nightmare, especially during the summer months." These comments shed light on some of the challenges of living in San Clemente, such as the steep cost of living and increasing population.

Overall, it's clear that San Clemente has its ups and downs, as seen through the experiences of these reviewers and many others on BestPlaces.net. While some appreciate the community and natural beauty, others struggle with high costs and traffic. Ultimately, it's important for individuals to carefully consider these factors and their own personal preferences before making the decision to call San Clemente their home.

San Clemente Review - 4/8/2011
First, the big plus of San Clemente is the weather. It is wonderful and most of the time you can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. Second, the area has a natural beauty that one expects of Southern California. The beaches are well kept and it is nice to spend the day there.
The negatives have to begin with the high cost of living. Even with the recent home price declines, housing costs are still high as the number of foreclosures and bankruptcies can attest. The taxes and fees associated with housing can added greatly to your expected monthly expenses. Another big negative is the aging nuclear plant just south of the city. In case of accident, the prevailing south-to-southwest winds would place radioactivity at your door.
Especially avoid the Talega subdivision. Most locals dislike the people there. It is understandable. They are Laguna Beach- Newport Beach wannabes who will never come close to making it. They take out second and third mortgages to buy their 16-year Read More

Still a low crime area - 6/16/2008
I first moved to San Clemente in 1974 from the Los Angeles area. Three things struck me at the time as being radically different than LA: Things closed down earlier, there was noticeably less traffic and congestion and there was very little petty crime. In fact, people often left their cars and houses unlocked, which amazed me.

I moved back in 2007 and the city has changed in a lot of ways. It is crowded and there is a lot more things to do now, but the crime is still relatively Read More

Great lifestyle, but way too expensive - 8/20/2006
San Clemente is a great city, full of the classic southern California lifestyle that you imagine when listening to a beach boys song.
