It's interesting where people choose to live when money is not an issue. Montecito in Santa Barbara is one of those places, as is Bel Air, Pebble Beach, and our little town of Tiburon. Tiburon is a peninsula in the San Francisco Bay,, the next town north after Sausalito. Most of Tiburon's residents are on the southern side, looking back toward a beautiful view of the Bay and the skyline of San Francisco. We live on the "backside" of the peninsula in a little area that was once called California Isle, and is a tiny peninsula off the edge of the Tiburon peninsula. In the sixties, this little spot was leveled and extended, channels were dug, and now most of the homes here have their own slips right in their front yards. The neighborhood is made up of some 400 homes, and people tend to stay here. Is it perfect? Close. It's often windy, great for sailors, not great for sitting outside. Restaurants? Not many good ones close by. Expensive? That's kind of a given. Otherwise? Well, the road that leads here is called Paradise Drive. Says it all.[read more...]
