Fairfield County provides it's residence the best of two worlds. Access to New York City and life in a beautiful suburban or small city setting such as Stamford, CT. Excellent transportation, health care, recreation and cultural experiences abound. Strong economic base due to proximity to NYC and CT financial services industry. Easy access to the beauty and recreational diversity that New England provides. Downside is the high cost of housing and taxes, however, significantly higher average incomes help offset higher cost of living. [read more...]

Excellent public schools - 7/19/2010

From the elementary schools (all good) through the highschool level, we are very lucky to have such strong public education. Class sizes are typically not more than 20 students, the facilities are maintained, the children have access to great programs, both academic and athletic.[read more...]

I noticed that Greenwich, CT is not included in the Connecticut city listing. I moved to Glenville, CT, a part of Greenwich, from Darien, CT about 20 years ago. I miss the village atmosphere of Darien, but my family has received benefits from the more cosmopolitan community of Greenwich. Both are beautiful, safe, places to live with every educational, recreational and cultural advantage. The constantly escalating cost of living, however, has made these towns, like most others in Fairfield County, less and less attainable to our children who might choose to remain in the area when they establish families of their own.[read more...]
