thru the roof! - 4/18/2009

groton is the submarione capital of america- a lot of navy ppl come thru this town for a school. the cost of living on anything there- is very high- ibought 4 tomatoes at big y cost me almost 9 dollars. a pack of ciggarettes ranges 5-7 dollars gas is usually about 50 cents higher there, than it is further south- in more rural areas. the interstates are confusing and slow moving. most of them speed limit is 55. maybe rarely 60 the cost of living is so high there- that you have to pay to go to the beach - each and every time you go. im osrry but since when does anyone pay to use a beach? much less a public one! overall i think the cost of living was ridiculous and was glad to leave!!!![read more...]

This place is horrible. (Groton CT, MOST ALL OF CT - 12/20/2008

Most people aren't from here originally. Everything is overpriced from rent to groceries. The ship-yards and Pfizer smell really bad, not to mention the Hess (gas) plant. People are generally rude and unhappy in my experience. I am literally counting the days till I can leave and will NEVER COME BACK HERE. Everyone is crammed together, so there is very little privacy. If you want to see a DR., good luck finding an appointment in the next 3 months. In my opinion, the only pretty place here is Eastern Point Beach, and still you cannot go there on a day when there aren't at least 20 other people there along side you. No peace or serenity. Groceries are through the roof, and if you go to Wal-Mart in Waterford, be careful not to get run over, cussed, or have your cart stolen by someone.[read more...]

Whats not to like ? - 4/19/2008

We just got here 5 and 1/2 months ago and talk about location , right on the water and a short hop to NYC one way and Boston the other way . Also this place does'nt get the brunt of the winter weather like most of the Northeast , we're right in that little bottom corner of the map thats just perfect , theres a great grocery store , excellent education for our children and outdoor activities for everyone !.[read more...]
