User Review #1: "I've lived in Windermere for over 10 years and it's been a wonderful experience. The town is well-maintained, safe, and has a strong sense of community. The only downside is the high cost of living, but in my opinion, it's worth it for the quality of life." - John K.

User Review #3: "I've lived in Windermere my entire life and while it's a lovely town, I do feel like it's become overcrowded and overdeveloped in recent years. The traffic can be a nightmare and the cost of living is constantly rising. I miss the small town vibe it used to have." - Mark T.

Windermere is a very inconvenient place to live - 4/19/2012
I moved to Windermere from Chicago and I am having a difficult time adjusting here. Sure, the weather is great, but everything else is not. I have to drive for long distances just to run errands. The whole town is very rural and empty. Neighbors are hidden indoors all year round. It is very boring here; there is absolutely nothing to do or see. I don't understand why celebrities would want to live here. I would love to sell my home and get out of here for good. But, I have to wait till I get my nursing degree. So, I'm stuck in this Jail Town for a while. I don't like the grocery stores, malls, stores, and restaurants around here at all. I'm moving back north once I finish school. Anyone moving here just for the weather better think again. You will miss everything you had back home. The ONLY good thing about FL is the weather. That is not enough to make me want to stay. Read More

Upscale Town trying to keep a tight reign on progr - 2/12/2010
Windermere, Florida is home to many top athletes and famous people including Tiger Woods & Shaq O'Neil. This is a quaint little town that guards itself against too much progress. The town center is very small and you could almost pass it and not realize that you were there. The town has fought for years against modernization and is very strict in what they allow to be done in the town. They are trying to keep away traffic from the small town and the local police make sure that you are not speeding or look too suspicious otherwise they will stop you! Windermere has very good schools and they are very protective of their town. Home prices tend to be on the higher end of the scale in this town, but with the recent downturn in the market, you are now able to get some Read More

Living in Windermere - 7/5/2009
I've spent the last 5 years in Windermere Fl. and 31 years in the state of Florida. Windermere is a small town set amongst the Butler Chain of Lakes. It has it's older section of homes in the quaint downtown district and some beautiful guard-gated communities where you can find the likes of Tiger Woods and many Orlando Magic players. Crime is low and you are literally minutes from Disney World. I can see the Magic Kingdom fireworks display from my front yard every evening. Summers are hot and sticky but the Winter/Sring season is a welcome relief with cold fronts sweeping in from the Northeast. I can actually get some use out of my fireplace, believe it or not. Education wise, Florida is never on the top of anyone's list. That is why I homeschool. Nothing like those great schools with some history and a solid foundation that you will find up North. There are always some sacrifices to make wherever you choose to live. I'm not sure if I'll put down permanent roots here or Read More
