Jonesboro

I moved to Jonesboro from Plantation, Florida. Jonesboro is like any other town within a big city. The area that I came from in Florida is ft. lauderdale. There were areas on Ft Lauderdale that were high in crime, etc, and areas that were not, but its all called Ft. Lauderdale. It's about the zip code not necessarily the city. I live in the 30238 zip code of Jonesboro, it is very nice. I live in a mixed neighborhood of whites, blacks, hispanics and asian and i love it. Jonesboro has changed a lot in the past 8 years. It's the type of place you might raise kids if you just left a city like Oakland or Detroit. The food scene is non-existant, mainly chains and unreliable mom n pop spots. Night life is bars. Schools are horrible. They don't have recess in some of the elementary schools. I had two children that attended elementary and middle school there beginning in kingergarten. It's hit or miss with the teachers, mostly miss. The Atlanta Motor Speedway backs up the traffic terribly on race weekends. If you are a city person, you will find yourself going to Atlanta all the time. If you are planning on not doing much except hanging around your house, your friends house or the grocery store, this is the perfect place for you. Oh and if you're single, good luck on finding someone in Jonesboro. They all

Rising crime and a growing gang problem

Jonesboro has a country feel with many homes on 1/2 acre lots and bigger. There has been a population shift where almost 75% of area residents are none white. There is also a very fast growing hispanic and asian
