Country Living. Don't want friends. Place for you - 6/17/2021
We have lived in the Lewiston area for over seven years. If you are a dog person, this is not the place for you. No 24/7 emergency care. Very poor vet care. Our dog recently got very sick in the middle of the night and we had to rush him to Washington State Vet. Teaching clinic (over 50 miles from our home). Thankfully, good weather. Poor Health care. Have to go to Pullman, spokane etc. for the best care and hard to get to in winter if roads are snow covered. No freeways. In the town itself, shopping is not good. Have to go over to Clarkston, WA. If you like great restaurants and easy access to big city entertainment, only two lane highways (no freeways, close by), not the place for you or us anymore. Great place to live if you are a do-it-your self person, like isolation, country person (nothing wrong with that), hunting fishing, etc.  Read More

Don't believe snowfall is correct - 6/16/2013
Maybe 15 inches 40 yrs ago, but now mostly a few inches periodically, but it doesn't stick long. I moved back in 2001-2007 and only once was the snowfall over a few inches and driveways had to be shoveled. Great 4 season weather, except it was too gloomy for me in winter and spring. One spring it rained for 17 days in a row and was mostly gloomy the rest. I have SAD. I had to move back to CA. BTW, if you make enough to pay state taxes or have a Sub Chapter S or LLC, live in Clarkston, WA right next to Lewiston for tax advantages, plus no tax on food in WA like ID. Read More

Where is the best place to find rental homes in Le - 5/12/2007
Just need to know if anyone knows a good place to start to find rental homes or a website they can refer me to. My father-n-law is moving up there and doesn't want to buy a home. Thanks. Vincent Read More

Grew up Here - 5/25/2006
I grew up in Lewiston in the 80's and early 90's. There is some stuff to do like fishing, rafting, and skiing at nearby resorts. If you don't like the outdoors you probably won't have much fun as there aren't many other attractions. The Potlatch paper mill emits a noxious stench every day of the year. Most of the time this is carried down the river by the wind, but when the wind stops, a thick fog can build up in the valley that makes everything smell like rotten eggs (and there's no getting away from it unless you stay indoors all day).

The general climate is varied, but it doesn't change at the drop of a hat like in other places. The main thing is it's only 700 feet above sea level, so there's very little (sometimes no) snow in the winter, and intense dry heat in the summer. It's not uncommon for temperatures to reach 20 deg F in the winter and 100 deg F in the summer. Very little precipitation here (12" annually), so the only time you'll see much green is in Read More

Beautiful Area - 3/25/2006
What a beautiful area. Spent a lot of time there when I was a litle younger. Quiet town with many things to do especially if you are the outdoors type. Housing really doen;t seem to be too bad. I am actually considering moving there myself.....just wiating to see if the job pans out.

We're thinking of re-locating to the Northwest. - 3/20/2006
My wife is from near Walla Walla Wa. and has realitves in the Clarkston-Lewiston area. She's lived with me here in N.M. for 25yrs. and is ready to head back up north to the green mountains versus the dry desert of the S/W. Could anyone tell us about Lewiston? It seems like a nice area to raise a family. We have six children and we homeschool. Could someone provide information on homeschooling laws in Idaho and the price of housing? We would love to hear pros and cons on this city or the state of Idaho in general. Even the state of Washington is a moving option also. Thanks for your time. Vincent in New Mexico Read More
