Wonderfull, small, but cosmopolitan town! - 8/26/2020
I have lived here for almost 23 years. Wonderful, cosmopolitan, safe, cultural, liberal, all-inclusive town, with plenty of arts, shopping, sports events and activities, lakes and parks, beautiful college campus architecture, fresh foods and farmers market to satisfy anyone’s needs. Indianapolis, Louisville, and Cincinnati airports are all within reasonable driving distance. A great place to raise a family! The only downside are the surrounding areas which are very non-progressive. Peace Read More

Corruption! - 7/4/2020
The city government of Bloomington is very famous for its corruption.
The police of this city are famous for their inactivity and lack of professionalism. The judges are famous for their non-sense and unfair verdicts. Corruption is the second name for Read More

Terrible. There is nothing good about Bloomington, IN. Don’t live there. As for Catalent, there is one of those in my home town Woodstock, IL. It’s a pharmaceutical company.  Read More

Great town but beware of Catalent - 4/21/2019
Bloomington, IN is a great place to get an education at IU or Ivy Tech. It’s a midsize did midwestern town about an hour southwest of Indy on I-69. The major streets are 3rd which runs east & west and Walnut which runs north and south. Bloomington Transit is really good to get around town. Yellow Cab is good too. College Mall is your typical Simon Mall. Tons of restaurants. Bloomington has 2 Goodwills & a Goowill Vogue and plenty of shopping downtown on The Square. It has 5 Krogers, Aldi, Walmart, Target, 2 Fresh Thymes, BloomingFoods and a Lucky’s. The major employers are IU Health, IU, Cook Medical, Baxter BioPharma, Carlisle Brakes... and a really lousy company to avoid at all costs called “Catalent.” Warning to all: Bloomington is an awesome town, but stay away from Catalent.  Read More

Avoid Bloomington! - 2/22/2018
Bloomington Indiana is not a good place to live. For a town its size the infrastructure is totally inadequate. The streets are laid out like a medieval city and cannot handle small town traffic efficiently, let alone the cars exiting from the new Interstate passing by. Bloomington is lacking primary care physicians and the wait for a specialist could be 18 months or longer. I have lived hear three years and am still waiting on a rheumatologist. My greatest issue is that it is a corrupt little town and to find a lawyer for personal injury is impossible. No lawyer will accept any cases against the local companies. I have an issue with an institution in town and must go to Indianapolis to find legal representation! Housing is terrible because either apartments are roach-infested rip-offs or overpriced White elephants. If you add the loud students, drunks, and homeless hobos; the place is intolerable.Jobs are hard to find because of the 40,000 students, and wages are mournfully Read More

Crime is a BIG Issue in Bloomington - 11/8/2016
When my wife and I moved here, a little over a year ago, we expected the crime maps to be somewhat -- "it wont happen to us". We were wrong. We have been a victim of a crime 3 times since our arrival; security cameras, extra-steps to avoid risk, and minimizing traveling anywhere alone, reduced our risk, but who wants to live in a place were less than 90 uniformed police patrol 100,000 people, that's about 12 officers per shift. Or nearly 1 cop per 1000 people. I found out later, their call sheets are nearly always backed up and they go from call to call to call, their entire 10 hour shift. The only jail is a 250 bed facility, always exceeding capacity. If you want to live and work in Bloomington, be my guest. But count on learning some hard lessons on crime, in the process. Read More

Bloomington has always been good to me - 8/2/2016
Indiana is typical midwest, 4 seasons, agriculture, manufacturing, good universities. The early '90s show "Eerie, Indiana" had Hoosier humor in several episodes. I've been to Fort Wayne, Lafayette, Evansville, Ellettsville, Bloomfield, Columbus, Nashville, Indy and Bloomington. Each city is great, unique, distinct and has its own character, but Bloomington has always been really good to me.  Read More
