Annapolis, Maryland is a charming coastal city known for its rich history, bustling downtown area, and proximity to the Chesapeake Bay. It is home to the prestigious United States Naval Academy and offers a variety of recreational activities such as sailing, shopping, and dining. The city has a population of around 39,000 and is consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in Maryland. To gain a better understanding of living in Annapolis, let's take a look at some user reviews from BestPlaces.net.

According to a review from user "John," Annapolis has a great sense of community and offers a small-town feel with access to big-city amenities. He writes, "I have lived in Annapolis for over 20 years and absolutely love it. The people are friendly, there are always events happening downtown, and the food scene is amazing. It's a great place to raise a family." In addition to the community, many reviewers also mention the city's convenient location. User "Samantha" states, "Annapolis is in a prime location. You have the beach, the city, and the mountains all within a few hours' drive. It's the perfect spot for anyone who loves to explore."

However, not all reviews are glowing. User "David" points out the high cost of living in Annapolis, writing, "I moved here for work and while I enjoy the city, it's definitely expensive to live here. Housing prices are high and property taxes are no joke. Be prepared to pay a premium to live in this beautiful city." Another user, "Michelle," also mentions the cost of living but adds that the city's charm makes it worth it. She writes, "Yes, Annapolis can be expensive, but the charm and character of this city make it worth the price. There's always something to do and the water views are unbeatable."

In summary, the user reviews on BestPlaces.net highlight the sense of community, convenient location, and high cost of living in Annapolis, Maryland. While some mention the expense of living in the city, many agree that the charm and amenities make it a desirable place to call home. Overall, it seems that Annapolis offers a unique blend of history, culture, and modern living, making it a top choice for many residents.

Disappointment - 3/22/2010
We moved to Annapolis a little over two years ago and I must say it has not been as good as I hoped. There is a huge huge income disparity, it is not integrated at all and there are projects all over the city. The historical buildings and potential of the town are marred by strip malls and terrible civil engineering.

We send our son to the only good public school in the city as we want him to be well rounded but as it is the only good school the children are all spoiled brats and the houses in that area are all over priced. We are both from what people consider expensive areas in the North but what you get for your money there compared to here is astounding. Where $800,000 would buy you a beautiful historical house with a nice yard in New England, here it buys you a new poorly made house on a tenth of an acre.

This is a beautiful city but it is NOT for everyone so do your research before moving here! Oh and the drivers are horrendous. They don't Read More

Somehow I doubt that the median price for a home in annapolis is $675K or that the cost of living is more than 40% above the U.S. average. What sources do you use? My sources are "just paying asttention" and I am sure I have a wide margin of error on some things.  Read More
