Beautiful city - 5/11/2010
I was up in Portsmouth a couple years ago visiting from Florida. I loved how I was able to prk the car, get out and have numerous bars/restaurants, clothing stores, etc all within a very short walk. I guess that's why so many people look fit in Portsmouth. Tons of people out walking and biking. Something almost unheard of in Orlando. Also, people seemed very relaxed and the drivers were very courteous. Another nice change from Orlando!  Read More

Portsmouth is a beautiful historic town settled right on the seacoast. Excellent restaurants, great cafes and shops, and picturesque streets make this a wonderful city to walk around and enjoy the sights. The beaches of the Maine and NH seacoast are within 15 minutes drive, and the White Mountains are about an hour or so away for great hiking and skiing. Boston is one hour south for pro-sports games. Portsmouth's Charm - 5/25/2007
Portsmouth is a very small-town geographically, but has a mall, hospital, great schools, small main-street USA charm with an oceanic feel to it. It's an expensive place to live as property values are through the Read More

The cost of a nice house some might consider it high. Looks like the historical society tries to keep it from getting over industrialized. There is some culture there. The pace is slower in Portsmouth, but that's part of it's charm. Boston is only an hour drive away if you need more stimulation. Portsmouth is great if you do not want to live in constant congestion. Also, the winters are long, but the scenery there and around the general area is Read More

Mini-Boston... Overcrowded, area not set up for the amount of people that live there... People not friendly... Cold, nasty winters... Traffic, road rage...
Not even a nice place to visit anymore. Housing cost and taxes way to high, not worth it!!!Read More

portsmouth is really fun. my husband and i moved here over the summer and we love going downtown. there's a lot of cool indie stores and the restaurants are great. outside of downtown though, it's farmy and boring. i'm originally from mass so i like things a little more fast paced. there's a lot of backward people up here that look like they're stuck in the 80's or 90's still, which really bothers me. a little too hickish for me, i am looking forward to moving back home to southern new england and into the 21st Read More
