Only place I would want to live is in Holden Beach - 2/15/2024
I was looking to purchase a beach house some where in North Carolina so I could be close to my home base of Charlotte, NC and not feel like when I returned, I would need a vacation from my vacation.. I checked out all the beaches from Sunset to the outer banks and this is what my wife and I surmised: We immediately crossed OBX off our list because it was very far and because of the lack of medical care nearby…you have to think of these things once you have children. Sunset was ok, but not quite what I was looking for in a beach destination. Ocean Isle was very pretty, had lots of charm, but way overbuilt now for my liking. I am needing relaxation from the city enviornment, so I didn’t want to be stressed out at the beach too. We really enjoyed Holden Beach because it was not overbuilt, no high rise hotels or condos, very family oriented and very peaceful…almost like going back in time when things were slower and quieter. Oak island had beach erosion issues which I didn’t want Read More

Holden Beach is for Families! - 2/10/2024
I recently purchased a home in Holden Beach after doing tons of research on the Brunswick Islands in North Carolina (Ocean Isle, Oak Island and Caswell Beach.). I picked Holden Beach over the other islands because the water was the cleanest and prettiest, the overall look of the island is more pleasing and because it gets less traffic than the other, more well known islands. It had a very family-friendly environment, it has retained much of its old-beach charm and was close to many major areas like Myrtle Beach, Wilmington and my favorite, Southport, NC for day trips. No regrets Read More

Holden Beach is the best beach in North Carolina! - 2/4/2024
I am almost afraid to write a review about Holden Beach in North Carolina because then everyone will find out about this beautiful place and come down in swarms and spoil it. I stayed at Southern Charm for a wedding and I absolutely fell in love with this island. It feels so private and it's very clean. You are not far from Wilmington or Myrtle Beach, so it's a great escape from the hectic world we live in.  Read More

On the subject of religion, - 3/26/2010
I would say this area is pretty religious. There's a church on every corner and a Jesus fish on many cars. It's tough for someone who is irreligious like myself to fit in with the community. There are also a bunch of seniors around. Wouldn't recommend moving here unless you're looking to live with not much happening around you. Read More
