opportunities for theatre, music, museums abound in houston-20+ miles away, however traffic is bad from morning to late night and tickets are quite expensive. Museums have one free admission day but free cultural community events are rare.
Cowboy/rodeo/macho mentality prevails in the outlying areas.
Conservative politics and religion with little emphasis on higher education. Cultural sahara if you are one of the educated poor.[read more...] |

Tomball College is quite nice - 5/3/2007
With a college-age son, it is nice to have nearby Tomball College. The facility is excellent, the public library is actually part of the college campus and has extended hours. The campus has a full fitness center that welcomes members from the community. Tuition is very reasonable, and there is a wide variety of classes to choose from.[read more...] |

Cute little town right outside Houston - 4/16/2006
Here you can have ALL the great stores and malls right near you, but still feel like you live in a suburban area. Housing prices are unbeatable and neighborhoods are lovely.
The only two drawbacks are the lack of bike trails and walk ways, and of course Houston's miserable weather.[read more...] |
