Not as beautiful as it used to be, Lake Geneva has suffered from city fathers who have cared more about increasing the tax base than keeping the lovely small town quality that has attracted visitors for over a century. Wal-mart and Home Depot are now the entryway to the city, which is also grabbing up neighboring woodlands and farms to build teeming subdivisions.
