What BestPlaces Users Say about Las Cruces

Las Cruces, located in southern New Mexico, is a city known for its scenic beauty, rich history, and diverse culture. It is home to New Mexico State University and offers a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking and skiing. However, like any city, it has its share of pros and cons. Many people have shared their experiences and opinions about living in Las Cruces on BestPlaces.net. Here are four excerpts from different users sharing their thoughts on this particular place.

1) "I've lived in Las Cruces for almost 10 years and I love it here! The cost of living is affordable and the people are friendly. The food is amazing, with a mix of Mexican and New Mexican cuisine. The only downside is that the job market is not very strong, so it may be challenging to find employment in certain industries." - Sarah P.

2) "Las Cruces is a great place to retire. The weather is perfect, not too hot and not too cold. The cost of living is reasonable and there are plenty of activities for seniors. However, the city can be quite spread out and public transportation is not very convenient." - John M.

3) "I moved to Las Cruces for college and ended up staying after graduation. It's a beautiful place with breathtaking sunsets and plenty of outdoor recreation options. The people are laid-back and welcoming. However, the education system could use improvement and the traffic can get pretty bad during rush hour." - Ashley K.

4) "I've called Las Cruces my home for over 30 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. The climate is perfect, with mild winters and warm summers. The city is growing, but it still maintains a small-town feel. The only complaint I have is the occasional dust storms during monsoon season." - David S.

Overall, it seems like the majority of users enjoy living in Las Cruces due to its affordability, friendly community, and natural beauty. However, some mention the lack of job opportunities and the spread-out nature of the city as potential downsides. Each person's experience and perspective may vary, but it is clear that Las Cruces has a lot to offer to its residents.

Pros and Cons - 11/8/2019
As a 35 year old, lifetime resident of Las Cruces I have seen this town grow A LOT from when I was 10 years old.
Unfortunately, the crime has gone up quite a bit but that is expected with a growing city. What I didn't expect was how much shootings and murders have happened in 2019. I'm not sure if the rate has gone up or if the Las Cruces Sun News started reporting on every one that occurs now. They have happened in the poverty stricken neighborhoods between people that are known criminals, usually drug dealers and drug addicts and a rare innocent person or two.
It's sad to see that while this city continues to grow, (a lot of growth due to the retirees that come to live here) the job market is horrible. You can have a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry a masters in english and end up working at a call center for years. If people with degrees can't find decent jobs for their education level how are people with only a high school diploma or G.E.D going to fare?
