Review of Redding, California

STAY AWAY FROM REDDING
Star Rating - 6/29/2010
Ok, orignally moved to Hayward, California from Cincinnati, Ohio...MISTAKE #1. MISTAKE #2 deciding to move out of the city to have an easier life like the one I used to have in Cincinnati. Redding is beautiful but once you get to know it, its a nightmare. Meth heads ARE EVERYWHERE, the cops are lazy and dont want to help you ( i would know because I had the wonderful problem of dealing with a meth head/drunk/insane person threatening my life and constantly trying to fight my boyfriend). I called the police on three different occasions on this druggie and the cops solution? Move. Literally every person I happen to come in contact with was either homeless and on drugs, on welfare and on drugs, or just on drugs. I, personally was accused of being high on meth as well, which is almost comical, but at the same time is not. Because the town is crawling with meth heads everyone assumes you too are on meth. On top of the drug problem, the homeless problem, the crap job market and the rude people who just want to fight, you get the real feeling your in hell when you sit around and sweat in the summers in 115 degree heat. Believe me, its a real treat. I have been here 5 months and guess what Im getting the hell outta dodge....tomorrow as a matter a fact! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT MOVE TO REDDING!! Save yourself and your sanity and do not move to this hell on earth!

It would help if you stated what neighborhood you lived in. Was it the poorest part of town? Few others are claiming the entire town is on drugs. Your experience may have been tainted by conditions in a certain neighborhood. Context is needed.

Nick, Lauren is right and neighborhoods don't matter when it comes to drugs. The place is so small that the druggies are unavoidable. If you live in a nicer home you are a target for thieves. They hit up the nicer homes on a regular basis. Their is also the big problem with the teen children of the upper middle/middle class being on meth so even in a nicer area you have to worry about these peoples kids at night. The place is too small to get away from the meth. It is in all the small outlying towns as well.

don't move to the crap side of town! sounds like your down in 'the hood' or even worse, down under mercy hospital. every town has it's bad area. you must be in it. i'm not and it's great. i'm from niles, saratoga, last place i lived in was Los Gatos. i wish redding had better old buildings and had the downtown area finished(it's started to renovate the downtown area) it's doing one block at a time. where i live there is none of the problems you mention. except the job market. hayward is known to be the bad part of the bay area. sounds to me like you can't afford to live in a decent part of town. that happens everywhere. if you work at it, you can get a place in a good area. try it next town you move to.
