A Rude Mayberry!
Star Rating - 5/5/2010
I have lived in Sufu ( as it is called by most) for 5 years now, is a place that is quite naive, clicky, and downright rude to persons not born here. If you ain't Dutch, you ain't much. If you ain't Norwegian, leave our region. Not Scandinavian, we ain't behavin'! Just a few of the 'sayings' that are very accurate to the mindset of people here.
Great place for agoraphobics and persons who like boredom and don't want to be bothered. Passive/Aggressive or as I call it BIPOLAR personalities are very much prominent. People here stare!!!! Feels like a third world country!
Thank GOD I am out of here when school is! The people are colder than the weather! HORRIBLE!

Honestly, I tend to agree. I’ve been here only 4 months and I’m still shocked at how people behave. Not friendly, rude. Can’t tell you how many businesses I’ve been in to where the reception staff could not be bothered even being polite. Who wants a vets office where they front desk girl ignores your animal and acts like helping you is a burden? I’ve literally never in my life been “corrected” as much as here. It’s like everyone is constipated and pedantic and no matter what I say they feel the need to correct me. It’s infuriating. Don’t bother extrapolating my point, just interrogate me about how I worded it? And defensiveness?! It’s WEIRD. That goes along with correcting me. They make everything about themselves and then have to defend themselves when nothing I’ve said or done was even about them. And the vibes I get from people... I swear I can physically feel the dislike or contempt or whatever it is, from people, for no reason. Even the way they look at you is staring and hostile. Just weird. Also the lease COOPERATIVE people I’ve ever worked with. Like pulling teeth getting a team to work together. And religion? I lived in a muslim country for a decade and received only acceptance and friendship. Zero religious pressure. Here? I’ve been here 4 months and have been repeatedly harassed over religion (and politics). Planning to leave soon. I do NOT want to have any of it rub off on me.

To Rebecca, I’m not saying these people are right and you’re wrong, but your comment proves their points. You’re defensive and you attacked them, which is rude, and you corrected them.

Hmm your statement is totally unaccurate. I was born and raised in Sioux Falls, and the people here are NOTHING like you've explained. It must've been YOU that was the problem, not the people. We are one of the most hospitable states in the country. Plus everywhere you go you have all kinds of different people. Some bad crowds, some good crowds, there's variety everywhere! Whether it's in Texas, California, New York, anywhere! If you cant deal with it, you wont make it anywhere in the world you idiot. Good thing you left, we dont need your negativity here anyway! Good luck in life!
