there are between 12 and 15 city commissioners in macon as a consequence getting anything accomplished in this very parochial theater is a major feat. The city's downtown, a place where a true revival of macon could occur, has not found the necessary leadership to pull it up to the level that it could become, that of a vibrant downtown with a resident population to support it. The state of georgia has attempted to right size the city's goverment structure but has not succeded to date. Macon's outer communites especially those in the northen areas thrive and much of the new development is occuring there.
