Review of Sioux Falls, South Dakota

This place is the end of the world
Star Rating - 9/17/2009
Sioux Falls is typical of South Dakota in general: no culture, no integrity, no civility, and no hope.

Most of the residents are very cliquish and seem confused about simply courtesy. They are set in their ways to the point where the most common saying you will hear is: "That's the way we've always done it".

The schools are a DISASTER! This state would rather incarcerate people at better than twice the national average than educate a child. It's been said this is because the locals are better suited to be prison guards than teachers. Intentionally placing a child in a South Dakota school is tantamount to child abuse.

Driving is an adventure. While traffic is minimal, the quality of the drivers is scary. Look for the dumbest things they can do and you'll probably see it two or three times in a five mile trip.

The best way I describe South Dakota is: I have never seen a collective group of people more arrogant about their right to be ignorant.

Hey Marooned. Move somewhere else, really. Yes, there are some scary drivers. But what community is free of them completely? And Our schools. Have you been in the system, or had a child in the system here? Coming from SF I can tell you that we have a great school system, with very talented, experienced teachers despite the pay they deserve. No integrity, civility and hope? Are you kidding me? You are the ignorant one here. Making such a generalized statement about an entire community makes you the prejudice idiot. We are a smaller community. We don't have 300k people and we do have a very different way of life and we are content in it. The one factor that doesn't work here is you and your cynical views. You can take that back to where ever you came from.

Apparently you are VERY confused. You just described Mobile and Baldwin County, AL. At least SD had the sense to make texting illegal while driving while AL just did that at the beginning of this year after only a "mere" 1,000 people were injured or killed in traffic accidents because of this outlandish stupidity. And while you bash their school systems, keep in mind that AL has the 48th worst school system in the US followed only by Louisiana and Mississippi. Al also holds a nice record for number of high school drop outs. So before you bash a city for being "the worst" and saying that sending them to a public school there is "tantamount to child abuse" think of all the joy and wonder that comes from living in the armpit of the U.S.
