Melissa, as a citizen and business person of Bessemer I am trerrible Sad to hear of your experience. I have had the opportunity to live and travel to other area And I am still proud to call Bessemer home. Bessemer is a wonderful city that have lost it Direction in the last decades. Because I understand and care how this city is viewed by others I will be offering my experience as a business person to become mayor of this town in Aug of 2014. Why am I tell you this? I grew up in Bessemer and it really was a nice place back in the day. But Bessemer has changed and seems to be a magnet for the "down and outs" from nearby downtown Birmingham. Crime and drugs are rampant in the area and the normal folk are leaving in droves. My advice, take a gun with you if you visit Bessemer.
