I must tell you about my experience in Indianapolis where I lived there for two years. Indianapolis is the worst city I ever experienced living there. Why? Because it is a good city for families and religion worshippers. Downtown is cool and nice, but outside downtown, forget it! Lots of run-down houses, lots of backward lifestyles, and lots of "1970" and "early 1980's" people with their hairdos and clothes. There were not many things to do actively around the city. The city made me depressed and unhappy for two years and finally moved back to Washington, DC in 2001 where many positive things have made me very happy in Washington, DC. Myself as a gay man, the gay scene there really SUCKS! Only 2 to 3 blocks in a gay community and it also is a very small which is not like Boystown in Chicago, Castro in San Francisco, DuPont Circle in Washington, DC and other cities, that is it. It was very hard for me to meet and make new friends there. Not worth it. If you are a gay, please do NOT move to Indianapolis, trust me. If you have a family, then it is good for the kids there. As for the religion worshippers, it is good for them because the city has a blue law which I hated it at most and the blue law always makes the city very dead - just like a sleepy city. The last bus services are around 11 PM to 11:30 PM on weekends (Saturday and Sunday nights) and all I was to take a cab home from the downtown that cost me around $20 plus $2 to $3 as a tip comparing to the bus fare that cost me around $1.50. The bus system to me was okay, I guess. The Circle Centre shopping mall in downtown and Indianapolis Speeding racing place are wonderful places to be visited, but more than, NOTHING ELSE TO DO AROUND the city there. Yes, you, of course, can come to visit there which is fine, but moving there, FORGET IT or you will agree with me for sure. Yes, the crimes there were high while I was living there for two years. Bloomington, IN, the home of Indiana University is better than Indianapolis because of beautiful environment, but it is about an hour to drive each way. My old boyfriend has lived in Bloomington all his life, but it was not my thing there.
